Why We Care About Clean Air
Our Founder
Our founder, Michael Cole, wanted to improve air quality in schools during the early days of COVID-19. With his wife, daughters, and their students in mind, he researched ways to keep people safe from not only COVID-19 but also the common cold and seasonal flu that often plagued schools.
After researching air purification technologies and manufacturers, Michael discovered Smart Air. He immediately resonated with the company’s passion to provide clean air with efficient, cost-effective, and quiet air purifiers. Smart Air’s emphasis on scientific data provided fact-backed reassurance that these filters would provide the safest solutions available.
Our Company
Michael worked with Smart Air to introduce 120-volt versions of their air purifiers to the U.S. markets and to secure both UL and California Air Resource Board (CARB) certifications. Smarter HEPA is the exclusive U.S. distributor of Smart Air products.

Smarter HEPA provided 1,100 classroom air purifiers to almost 200 private schools and childcare facilities in environmental justice communities in the Los Angeles area.
Smarter HEPA has delivered more than 870 Smart Air Blasts to hundreds of community centers and shelters in 21 counties, for California’s Clean Air Centers.
